True marzipan is a confectionery material originating from the Orient, from where it was first imported to Spain and Portugal. Later, it spread further to Europe via Venice.
Use:
It is mainly used as a modeling clay for making ornaments, figurines, flowers and other decorations for cakes and desserts.
It can also be used to coat cakes, but also as part of their fillings or for making sweets.
Real marzipan is always ivory in color. The higher the proportion of almonds in it, the higher quality and darker it is.
It can be painted with gel paints , but it is always necessary to take into account that it is not pure white and therefore some colors may be affected by this. We can use powder paints or airbrush paints on the surface.
Marzipan will slowly dry out and harden in the air. Therefore, we recommend storing it well wrapped in cling film and in a closed container in a dark place. We dry the decorations at room temperature.
